#6 Blue Banisters by Lana Del Rey

This past Friday, Lana Del Rey released her seventh album in her discography. This is her second album to be released this year. Though her last album was not bad at all, Blue Banisters completely blew Chemtrails Over the Country Club out of the water. Blue Banisters seems to be what Chemtrails Over the Country Club was trying to be.  What COCC was missing in comparison to BB was having heart-punching, emotional songs. Even though I do not think the album was a flop, it definitely did not have songs that have been in my rotation. There were none that I really thought were as memorable as compared to almost every song in Blue Banisters . They both have similar sounds and intricate lyricism, but one was just executed better.  Some songs that stand out to me on Blue Banisters are “ Living Legend ” and “ Dealer ”. These two songs alone are what make this album stand out. Her lyricism in “Living Legend” is elegant, as she is singing to her lover, aka her “living legend.” The

#5: Tailgater Allstate Analysis

Everyone with a license has some sort of pet peeve amongst other drivers. In the ad, “ Tailgater ” by Allstate, it covers the annoying tailgater on the road that we have all come across at one point. The ad portrays Mayhem driving behind someone, being so close that they are barely touching their bumper. The driver is too distracted by how close the driver behind them is, causing them to not pay attention to the road in front of them. This leads to the driver crashing into the car in front of them, while the driver that was tailgating is able to leave the scene without any damage to their vehicle.  The purpose of the ad is, of course, to convince the reader to buy insurance, but the way it is portrayed is extremely effective. It starts with the approach of relating to the audience, I mean, we have all been there right? Any driver can say they were the ad’s driver at one point, which automatically draws in the demographic they are targeting. The driver then expresses their anxiety

Entry #4 Planet Her

It has been almost four months since pop star, Doja Cat, has released her third studio album, Planet Her . I do not know about you, but I have been OBSESSED. Despite the album being out for a little under 4 months, it is already my most listened to album of this year. If I am being honest, Planet Her is already considered my favorite album of this year. Unless some artists decide to stop being stubborn and finally drop their long anticipated albums (I am looking at you, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, and SZA.) From the intro to the outro, Doja’s delivery and energy in every song is just unmatched. The lyricism, the ad libs, the production, and her vocals create such a fun but high quality album. She plays with different voices and flows, going from emotional songs like “Been Like This ” to upbeat rap like “ Get Into It (Yuh) ”. Although they are two completely different songs with completely different flows, emotions, and messages, they do not seem out of place being on the same

Entry #3: Icy

The contents inside rattle and clink against the cold metal. Inside the cold metal contains an even colder substance. Clink! Rattle! Clink! Until eventually they all spill out, one by one. They are assorted colors, all bright and vivid shades of blues, reds, and yellows. The colors are not as intimidating as the smell or taste. The taste is similar to how it smells. It is a strong smell that fills the room with a sweet and icy chill aroma. The smell flows into your sinuses, enough to decongest a stuffy nose. The aroma is almost unjustified because of how small and tiny each piece is. Almost 100 fit into a two inch metal container. The smell, however, is not as intense as compared to its strong taste.   The intensity of the taste compared to its size, is very much intimidating. The taste is the definition of the phrase “do not judge a book by its cover.” As soon as it touches the tongue, the frosty taste instantly cascades your mouth. The chill of the flavor is almost bitter, but
